Junior's Grill

Junior's Grill is a restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. It is located on the Georgia Tech campus in the Bradley Building near Tech Tower.[1] It closed on April 21, 2011 due to declining business.[2]

History

Although many believe that Junior's Grill was Founded in 1948 under the name Pilgrim's, the fact is their name has always been (Junior's Grill ?). The restaurant was originally located on North Avenue at Techwood Drive just south of campus, across from Smith Dormitory. Demolition and construction for the 1996 Summer Olympics forced the restaurant to close temporarily; it reopened in its current location at the start of 1994.[3][4][5] It is a family business owned by Tommy Klemis.[4] The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Thursday (breakfast and lunch only on Friday), and is famous among students for their battered chicken fingers.[1]

The Georgia Tech student newspaper, The Technique, proclaims that one of the 99 things every Tech student should do before they graduate is, "Eat at Junior's (and (many?) wonder why Tommy isn't in charge of all campus dining)."[6] One of the more popular employees, Osman Chaudhry, served the students on weekday nights and was well known for his peculiar humor and alternative personality. The most popular items are the chicken fingers and burgers in "baskets," which means they come with a choice of side (usually french fries) and a soft drink.[1] In addition, there is a traditional hot line that serves breakfast and lunch, as well as an assortment of grill items that can be ordered a la carte. Junior's is open from 7:30am to 7:30pm Monday through Thursday, 7:30am to 2:30pm on Friday, and is closed on Saturday and Sunday.[3]

Junior's closed indefinitely at 2:30pm on Thursday April 21st, 2011.[7]
